Business Services
The City of Littleton's Business/Industry Affairs Department was set up to help Littleton businesses as well as new businesses thinking about locating in Littleton. Please give us a call if you have a special problem or need any of the following services, most of them FREE for local businesses:
Business Start-up Help
If you are starting a new business within the Littleton city limits, check out the start-up page on our web site for resources and information important to getting your business up and running
Assistance with City Procedures
The B/IA Department is charged with representing the interests of the Littleton business community within City Hall. As a part of that service, we will advocate for your development projects during staff review, argue for the business point of view during policy development at the city and help untangle any red tape problems that may be encountered. We have an ongoing working relationship with the regulatory departments within the City including planning, building inspections, zoning enforcement and sign enforcement
Locating Buildings and Sites for a New Business
We maintain a list of available office, retail, and light industrial (flex) space as well as vacant properties within the city limits including size of parcel or unit, zoning, owner and current use.
B/IA Team Meetings with Individual Businesses
When you meet with our team of business specialists, you’ll be sitting down with skilled and experienced business professionals who are dedicated to helping you reach your unique business objectives. Whether you wish to increase your market share, clarify your business strategy, track your competition, improve management practices or begin a social media campaign, we have the tools and expertise to help. Some of the services we provide are listed below. Call or email us to schedule a meeting.
Community Information and Demographics
The B/IA Department can produce fact sheets and data files on the City of Littleton and its environs. These range from detailed demographic tables and lists of basic business services (attorneys, printers, banks, etc.) to maps.
Marketing and Mailing Lists
We can create customized mailing lists for both business-to-business and business-to-consumer marketing. We maintain a database of 1,800 businesses in the city and can also provide information on 17 million businesses nationwide, including number of employees, annual sales, ownership and contact information by job title. We have partnered with a list broker to provide each business in the city with 1,000 free, highly-targeted consumer addresses per year. We subscribe to the SRDS Direct Marketing List Source, and can direct you to other specialized mailing lists that may be useful in your marketing efforts.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Using computer mapping and geographic analysis we are able to determine demographics, consumer expenditures and lifestyle data for your business. We can also map your current customer and competitor locations. GIS provides an ideal way to visualize and conduct analysis on your current and future market areas.
Custom Business Research
We have access to highly sophisticated information from state-of-the-art corporate-level business databases. These databases contain information from literally thousands of specialized trade publications across all industry sectors. Within a few minutes, it is possible to obtain information on:
- Your competitors, including financial information, background on principals, new product releases and company strategies
- Trends within your particular industry
- New local, national and international markets, including market share data
- Trademarks, patents, and legislation
- Business-to-Business mailing lists
Social Media Marketing
Recently the use of social media sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter has doubled among small businesses and close to a quarter of small businesses report they are engaged in social media marketing campaigns. We can help you get started with a LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter page for your business. We’ll also share what we’ve learned about effective use of social media for businesses and help you develop a custom social media strategy for your business.
Internet Marketing (Search Engine Optimization and Pay-Per-Click Advertising)
We can review your web site for proper search engine optimization practices, conduct keyword research, help you build a pay-per-click marketing strategy and advise you on local search optimization practices.
Marketing Material Critique
Before designing marketing pieces it’s important to identify who you are trying to reach. We can help you develop a profile of your best potential customer including income level, lifestyle, location and other demographic characteristics. We can also review your marketing communications and help you tailor your message to those most likely to buy your product or use your service. Finally, we can advise you on the marketing medium best-suited to reach your target audience.
Sources of Financing
We maintain a list of Littleton-based financial institutions, as well as information about popular sources of financing such as the SBA 504 program. For qualified projects this program provides 90% financing for buildings, equipment and land at rates near prime for up to 20 years. The Colorado Housing and Finance Authority also has funds available for loans to small businesses, with certain restrictions. Contact us for additional information.
