Littleton Downtown Design Standards and Guidelines

Main Street. In May 2002, the Littleton Planning Commission hired Civitas, Inc., a local urban design, landscape architecture, and planning firm, to develop design guidelines for the Littleton downtown area. The main task was to provide a guide that helps Downtown Littleton maintain its character, as well as provide the basis for the best possible quality of development. Civitas presented a draft to the Historical Preservation Board, the Planning Commission, and property owners in the spring of 2003 and fall of 2004. The guidelines were finalized and adopted by the Planning Commission and Historical Preservation Board in March 2006.

The design standards and guidelines address additions to existing buildings, as well as new construction or renovation within the Littleton downtown area. The project boundaries are: Berry Avenue on the north; Church Street on the south; Santa Fe on the west; and the railroad depression on the east. If you have any questions regarding this project, please call the Community Development Department at 303- 795-3748.

The guidelines are available for download in PDF (PDF file.) format. Due to the size of the document, it has been broken down into smaller sections, but is also available as one document for those with a high-speed Internt connection. For more information, contact the Community Development Department at 303-795-3748.
