Peddlers and hawkers licensing

Any one who sells items door to door is required to have a Peddlers & Hawkers License before conducting business within the City of Littleton. Community organizations such as Boy and Girl Scouts and school sponsored organizations are not considered a solicitor. Businesses posting flyers on residences and mobile food services, such as ice cream trucks, are not required to obtain a Peddlers & Hawkers License but are required to obtain a Sales Tax License and to collect all applicable sales taxes.

For Businesses: Applications are available online or in-person at the Littleton Center. When applying, bring a copy of state issued identification card and payment for fees. Each solicitor is required to carry a copy of the application, applicable licenses, receipt, and should have their ID available when soliciting in the city limits. If there is a residence or community displaying a "No Soliciting" sign, no member of the business may approach or contact residents.

For Residents: Solicitors are required to carry a copy of the Peddlers & Hawkers application, city issued license, and a receipt of payment. Littleton Police dispatch maintains a list of licensed solicitors should questions arise. In addition, any business selling a product should be collecting the 7.35 percent sales tax and carry a sales tax license issued by the city.
