Community Programs

Littleton Fire Rescue currently provides fire and injury prevention programs to citizens, community groups, businesses and schools. Classes are taught by line firefighters, division officers or by one of the two life safety educators assigned to life safety education full-time. When presentations are assigned to on-duty fire crews, every effort is made to accommodate the request, but 9-1-1 emergencies are given priority.

Birthday Parties
Due to the nature of our job, we cannot accommodate birthday parties at the fire stations, but groups are invited to schedule a station tour as part of their special day. Crews cannot be scheduled to attend birthday parties at residential homes.

Blood Pressure Screening
Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, members of the community may stop by any Littleton Fire Station for a free blood pressure check. Tracking cards are provided to participants.

Boy and Girl Scout Education
Scout troops are invited to the fire station for a tour and educational session based on their current badge requirement (Readyman, First-Aid, Respecting Authority), or a crew may be requested to attend a Scout meeting at a public facility (no residences).

Businesses — Emergency Planning
A meeting can be arranged to discuss life safety issues regarding a particular business or structure. Assistance is provided to owners/managers in the development of an emergency procedure plan.

Car Seat Check
Car seat checks are free and by appointment only. Please review the car seat manual and the vehicle owner’s manual, and try to install the car seat yourself before your appointment. We allow 30 minutes per appointment, per vehicle. At the appointment, fire personnel will review your installation and your vehicle’s safety systems for children. Please call for an appointment a minimum of two weeks before you think you will need the car seat. Appointment dates and times vary; call 303-734-8305.

CPR Classes
American Heart Association’s curriculum on Adult Basic Life Support and Heartsaver Pediatric is offered in a four-hour, non-certification class. Cost is $18 per person for the book and participation card. The course is offered four times per year or at any time for groups of 10 or more.

Engine Tours
Fire and rescue crews can be requested to attend special community events, pre-schools or schools to provide educational tours of the apparatus. Please remember, emergency calls take priority. For-profit events are excluded. At least 10 days advance notice is required for scheduling.

File of Life
This valuable document is provided to members of the community, particularly seniors, to document medical issues, medications and other pertinent information. Emergency crews use the information for a more accurate assessment and treatment.
