Water Rescue Team

Station 16 is the Water Rescue station for Littleton Fire Rescue. The Littleton Fire Rescue’s Water Rescue Team is comprised of 24 highly trained and dedicated members. This special team of volunteers trains on a monthly basis to provide water-related search, rescue and recovery. This team has received many nationally recognized certifications such as Dive Rescue One Specialist, Swift Water Rescue Operations, Surface Ice Rescue, and Ice Dive Operations. The team specializes in such operations as:

  • Surface ice rescue
  • Swift water rescue and recovery
  • Underwater rescue and recovery
  • Under ice rescue and recovery
  • Water safety education
  • Evidence recovery

The areas protected by the Littleton Fire Department Water Rescue Team include The Colorado State Park Chatfield Reservoir, the South Platte River, and many other smaller bodies of water in the Littleton Fire Protection District. The Water Rescue Team responds on approximately 20 emergencies every year.
