Incentives for the Main Street Historic District
The following incentives complement other benefits that are already offered through the state and federal incentives for locally designated historic districts:
Reduced parking requirements within the downtown historic district
Existing buildings: no additional parking spaces required for change in use;
New buildings and additions: 50% parking reduction.
Waive Building permit fee and use tax for facade work on buildings
Could save property owners/merchants between 2.5-4 percent of total cost of a façade project.
Grants for historic preservation projects
The City of Littleton has established a grant program to support historic preservation. The city council has set a minimum of $25,000 per year for the fund. This money can be used for architectural design assistance, façade work, removal of graffiti, maintenance, one-time stipend to new tenants for signage or other improvements and funds to offset any other unforeseen costs related to a historic district.
These incentives will be considered for final approval in conjunction with the historic district.
