Bruce Stahlman was appointed to city council to fill an unexpired term in District II in 2007. He was elected to a four-year At-Large term in November 2009 and was elected by his peers on city council in 2011 to serve a two-year term as Mayor Pro Tem. Stahlman was re-elected to a two-year At-Large term in November 2013.
Stahlman received a bachelor’s degree in economics and management from Albion College and a master’s degree in finance from Indiana University.
Stahlman is chief financial officer for Arc Thrift Stores. He had a 30 year career in domestic and international finance in the energy and telecommunications industries. He is a certified public accountant.
Stahlman is a member of the city council audit committee and has been involved in negotiations concerning the Denver Water contract and intergovernmental agreements with the city’s fire partners.
Stahlman’s principal interest on council has been on complex budget and financial issues and economic development activities. He is focused on the city council goals of assuring a financially-sound city government, promoting environmental sustainability, and providing a safe community to live, work and play.
