The Scholarship Foundation annually awards college scholarships to graduating seniors in any of the Littleton High Schools, including Heritage, Arapahoe, Littleton and Options. Students are required to maintain a 2.5 GPA, have recommendation letters from teachers and counselors, qualify as a low-income family, and be involved in their school activities and the community. This year, with a donation from First Bank, a total of $7,000 was awarded. The LHA Scholarship Program has evolved over the years and has been expanded to include any low income household in the Littleton Public Schools community, not just LHA families. In 2010, the Board approved the inclusion of LHA Heads of Household or their spouses to apply for scholarships to vocational training or college classes. Dan Burnham, Executive Director of Littleton Housing Authority, stated “it is always an exciting time for the Board to review the applications. These four winners have specific goals in mind for their future and LHA is pleased to be able to help them accomplish these goals. To date, LHA has awarded over $70,000 in its commitment to higher education. ” The award winners will be honored in July at the annual Perfect Attendance Awards celebration. |
