Little Gull fire accidental
Littleton Fire Rescue investigators have made a preliminary finding that the fire which destroyed most of the house at 8751 S. Little Gull Ct. in Douglas County was accidental. Investigators yesterday interviewed the occupant who was living in the basement where the fire was reported to have started.
Fire investigators first had to pump thousands of gallons of water out of the basement and then pull out tons of debris before they could start looking for the area-of-origin and a fire cause. The house had a structural wood basement floor and investigators quickly found a 3’ X 3’ area of this floor that had been burned away. The only sources of ignition in this area were several electronic devices and a TV. There were no indications of accelerants or suspicious ignition sources.
The preliminary dollar-loss estimate is $375,000. |
