Littleton Detective Receives Prestigious Service Award

Littleton Police Department Detective Krista Bunten was honored at the annual SungateKids "For the Children" Gala November 12 for her outstanding commitment and dedication in child abuse investigations. Detective Bunten was presented with the 2011 Joan Schroer Excellence in Service Award. This award is presented to one law enforcement officer each year.

SungateKids is a child-focused, facility-based program serving the 18th Judicial District in the Denver area. Representatives from many disciplines, including law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical, and victim advocacy work together to conduct interviews and make team decisions about investigation, treatment, management and prosecution of child abuse cases.

"I feel very passionate about these cases," said Bunten recently. "I am dedicated to each investigation on behalf of the children who felt they did not have a voice at the time they were victimized." She added that this award is one of the highlights of her career.
