Travel the New Crabapple Route

Crabbapple Route Map.Crabapple Route sign.More than 40 years ago, former Littleton mayor and long-time community leader Vaughn Gardinier proposed, and city council approved, a program to purchase and plant hundreds of crabapple trees in Littleton. In 2010, Gardinier designed a seven-mile trail to enable the community to view some of the most beautiful blossoms by driving, biking or walking the route.

In order to fill in a few empty spots, an additional 30 pink and white crabapple trees were planted on private properties April 9 with the owner's permission. The Littleton Rotary Club funded the project and Boy Scout Troop #361 planted the trees.

City of Littleton staff designed and installed signs directing people to the route, assist them in following the trail. With Mother Nature's cooperation, the crabapple trees should be in full bloom in the next few weeks.
