Back to Littleton Press Room 2011 Winners of the Eye of the Camera CompetitionThe 2011 winners of the Littleton Fine Arts Committee’s Eye of the Camera Competition were announced by Juror Russ Burden: Air Forest, BEST OF SHOW – BLACK & WHITE by Sara Frances; Lone Fisherman, BEST OF SHOW – COLOR by Glenn Richards; Into Oblivion, FIRST PLACE – BLACK & WHITE by Joseph C. Bonita; M, FIRST PLACE – COLOR by David Anderson; The Conversation of Help, SECOND PLACE – BLACK & WHITE by Jordan Dickinson; Inle Lake Woman, SECOND PLACE – COLOR by Jane Richards. In addition to a $500 cash prize, the Best of Show winners are awarded a Two-Person exhibition in the Fine Arts Gallery at the Littleton Museum in the Spring of 2012. First Place winners are awarded a cash prize of $250 and Second Place winners $100. Russ is the owner of Russ Burden Nature Photo Tours and runs workshops around the country to the best locations at the times they appear in their utmost glory. His stock work is sold through Photo Library and often shows up in magazines and advertisements around the world. Russ teaches classes of all levels for the Panasonic Digital Photo Academy in addition to writing all the curriculums for the national program. Russ has been published numerous times in Outdoor Photographer, Popular Photography, and Petersen’s PHOTOgraphic. He writes a weekly Photo Tip and a monthly Photoshop column for Take Great Pictures.com. He has two books to his credit. Russ is a multiple-time winner of the prestigious Nature’s Best Windland Smith Rice Award in the Art In Nature category in addition to the Backyard Habitat category. He also won Highly Commended honors in a number of other categories. As a result, his images have appeared in the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. The exhibition may be viewed from Friday, February 18 through Sunday, April 3, 2011 during regular museum hours. The museum is located at 6028 S. Gallup Street in Littleton and is open Tuesday – Friday from 8 am to 5pm; Saturday 10 am to 5 pm; Sunday 1-5 pm. The museum is closed on major holidays. |
