Heritage High School Student Found with Gun

Earlier today, Heritage High School administrators and the Littleton Police School Resource Officer assigned there received information regarding a student in possession of a firearm at the school. In a cooperative effort, they were able to identify the student and a search conducted by the school revealed a handgun in the trunk of his vehicle. The weapon was unloaded and there is no information to indicate it had been used in a crime or that a crime of any nature was planned.

The student, whose name is not being released due to being a juvenile, was taken into custody and transported to the Littleton Police Department. He will be charged with Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon-Unlawful Possession of Weapons on School Grounds, a Class 6 felony and Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile, a Class 2 misdemeanor. He will be placed in the Juvenile Assessment Center and the bond amount is yet to be determined. The incident is still under investigation.
