This grant was awarded under Round B of the 2010 Affordable Housing Program (AHP), a competitive grant program, which is the largest source of private sector grants for affordable housing and community development initiatives in the country. Round B 2010 provides a total of $11.1 million to 35 projects, generating 1,755 units of affordable housing in Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. The grant will provide much needed funding for energy efficiency improvements and exterior renovations to the three 1960s-era buildings, consisting of a total of 69-units. The buildings are located at 123, 163 and 183 W. Powers Circle in Littleton. Since acquiring the property in 2008, LHA has made a number of significant energy efficiency improvements to the property including installation of new high efficiency boilers, Energy Star-rated insulated windows in all residential units, low-flow toilets and showerheads, and installation of compact fluorescent bulbs throughout the property. The AHP funding will be utilized to accomplish critically needed water proofing of the building envelopes, site drainage improvements, and internal domestic water line replacement, in addition to a number of capital repairs and energy efficiency improvements.
