Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) On-site Assessment

The Littleton Police Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.

Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: Policy and Procedures, Administration, Operations and Support Services. The Littleton Police Department was first accredited in 2006 and is currently seeking its second re-accreditation.

As part of the on-site assessment, department employees, members of the community, fellow agencies, civic leaders, community groups and others are invited to offer comments to the CALEA assessors.

A public information session will be held Monday, December 5, 2011, at 7 p.m. at the Littleton Center, 2255 West Berry Avenue, in the second floor police training room.

The pursuit of law enforcement accreditation, which requires compliance with these accreditation standards, underscores the department's commitment to the community it serves, and projects a professional image of law enforcement.
