Littleton Fire Rescue Hosts Ice Rescue Training
Littleton Fire Rescue is hosting an Ice Rescue Trainer course at Redstone Park, 3280 Redstone Park Circle in Highlands Ranch on Wednesday January 18 from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. This course is sponsored by Colorado State Parks and taught by Dive Rescue International. There are 25 students from Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. The students are Firefighters and Park Rangers.
During this three day course students learn:
- How to avoid becoming a victim
- How to recognize ice hazards
- How to evaluate ice strength
- Ice conditions and ice formation
- Hypothermia / cold-water near-drowning
- Equipment selection and rigging techniques
- Operational planning and scene evaluation
