Littleton Fire Rescue Conducts Ice Rescue Diver Training
Littleton Fire Rescue (LFR) is conducting Ice Rescue Diver training at Chatfield State Park January 25 and 28 from 8 a.m. – 12 noon. This training is conducted by the specialized LFR Water Rescue Team. There are 24 members of this team. This is a refresher course and will include review of the operational procedures the team conducts during under ice submersion emergencies.
The three days of training will include:
- Emergency scene management
- Witness interview techniques
- How to evaluate ice strength
- Ice conditions and ice formation
- Hypothermia/cold-water near-drowning
- Equipment selection and rigging techniques
- Operational planning and scene evaluation
