Police Department Receives Reaccreditation CALEA Award

The Littleton Police Department received its second reaccreditation Award with Excellence by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). There are 400 accredited municipal police agencies in the United States and 11 in the state of Colorado.

The Littleton Police Department completed its last on-site assessment from December 4-7, 2012. At that time, CALEA assessors examined all aspects of the Littleton Police Department as part of a program to achieve re-accreditation by verifying that the department meets the highest professional standards. Verification by the assessors proves that the Littleton Police Department is in voluntary compliance with the 480 law enforcement accreditation standards.

The standards, upon which the Law Enforcement Accreditation Program is based, reflect the current thinking and experience of law enforcement practitioners and researchers. Major law enforcement associations, leading educational and training institutions, governmental agencies, as well as law enforcement executives internationally, acknowledge CALEA’s Standards for Law Enforcement Agencies© and its Accreditation Program as benchmarks for today’s law enforcement agency."
