Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training for citizens

Following a major disaster, police and fire first responders may not be able to meet the demand for their services. Factors such as number of victims, communication failures, and road blockages could prevent the public from accessing emergency services that they have grown to expect when they call 9-1-1. People might have to rely on each other for help and direction in order to meet their immediate need for life- and health-sustaining services. You could be that person!

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) educates citizens about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact our area, and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

2012 Training Schedule
Saturday, March 3, 2012 8 AM to 4 PM
Saturday, March 10, 2012 8 AM to 4 PM
Saturday, March 24, 2012 8 AM to 4 PM

Cert trainees at work. The Littleton and Englewood Police Departments sponsor the CERT training course, which is open to all citizens over the age of 18. CERT is a 32-hour course given at NO CHARGE. We welcome your participation. The class is limited to 30 participants. Register early to secure your enrollment.

Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace during an emergency when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.

For more information, contact the CERT training coordinator, or leave a message at 303-734-8224.
