Officers use their revolvers at the indoor pistol range on the upper floor of Police Headquarters, in the former Carnegie Library building at the west end of Main Street. The range was constructed by Police employees and featured three firing positions and remote-controlled targets. The Police Department moved into the library building in 1966 after it was converted to a police station when the library moved to its present location on South Datura Street. The move to a larger building was necessary because the Police Department had drastically outgrown its offices located in the Town Hall building on Main Street (now the Town Hall Arts Center). The Town Hall had previously served as headquarters for the Police Department and for the town marshal during the decades before the Police Department was organized. The Police Department moved to its present facilities on West Berry Avenue in 1977. Pictured from left: Patrolman Elliott Burke, Detective Jon Ilk, Patrolman Charles "Chuck" Robinson.
