New Citizenship Volunteer Training

This training is for new volunteers who would like to help students prepare for the citizenship exam and for the responsibilities of US Citizenship, and for current citizenship volunteers who would like a refresher. We will discuss the LIRC citizenship syllabi/teaching guides, learning materials, the citizenship exam, and the citizenship process.
LIRC's Citizenship Education Program is designed for immigrants at English Levels 2-5 (on a scale of 0-6). To volunteer as a Citizenship Mentor (tutor) or classroom assistant, some English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching experience or other teaching experience is helpful, but not required. The minimum weekly time commitment for tutors is 3 hours (usually two 1.5 hour sessions per week). Depending on the student's English level and on whether they have already submitted their citizenship application (Form N-400), the tutoring time varies from about 4 months to 9 months.
Please RSVP to Betsy at if you would like to attend!
