Pipe Bomb Found in Littleton

The Littleton Police Department (LPD) was dispatched to reports of a possible explosive device today at 12:36 p.m. The device was found behind a Safeway grocery store, located at 181 West Mineral Ave. When LPD arrived on the scene, they immediately secured the area and notified the Arapahoe County Sheriff Bomb Squad (ACSBS). Pipe Bomb 1

LPD and ACSBS determined that the device was an explosive and were able to deactivate it to render the scene safe. LPD thanks ACSBS and South Metro Fire Rescue (SMFR) for their assistance in this incident. This is an active investigation and the LPD investigators are working to find out more information. Possession, use, or removal of explosives or incendiary devices is a class four felony. LPD is asking anyone with any information to email PoliceTips@littletongov.org
