First Friday Art Walk and History Tours Kickoff May 5

First Friday Art Walk artist supplies and equipmentNine galleries in Downtown Littleton will participate in this summer’s free First Friday Art Walk and History Tours. The series begins this Friday, May 5 from 5-9 p.m. History Tours are a new addition to the evening, led by Historic Littleton, Inc. and the Historical Preservation Board. The free tours leave from the Littleton Municipal Courthouse every 30 minutes from 5:30-7 p.m.

Start the walk at the Depot Art Gallery, where there is plenty of parking and a new show, “What’s in a Name.” Outnumbered Gallery will feature “The Grace Project” that includes work from New York photographer Charise Isis displayed on silk. The gallery is also collecting non-perishable food and hygiene items for Integrated Family Community Services. The Arapahoe Community College Art and Design Center will display chalk art and jewelry with a metal art demo, while the Colorado Gallery of the Arts will feature works in multimedia, graphic design and illustration. Stop by Town Hall Arts Center to see the product of three artists, entitled “Les Trois Tracys.”

In addition to galleries, nearly 20 local businesses will stay open throughout the evening and several will feature discounts and specials. Don’t miss the blacksmith working at Rocker Spirits and see the talented artists painting in ArtSpark, In-Tea, Think Tank South, Remax Synergy and Legacy Vineyards.

 A map showing the location of all nine galleries in the Downtown Littleton Arts District (DLAD) can be found at littletonrocks.com or picked up in any of the galleries or participating shops. Attendees can begin the walk at the Depot Art Gallery, 2069 W. Powers Avenue, where there is plenty of free parking.
