Street Rehab: SB Broadway and WB Mineral Ave.
Last week, the contractor began removal of damaged sections of concrete curb and sidewalk on S. Broadway between E. Arapahoe Road and W. Caley Ave. and on westbound Mineral Ave. between South Broadway and S. Windermere St.
Weather pending, this week the contractor anticipates completing the removal and replacement of damaged sections of concrete curb and sidewalk on S. Broadway and on W. Mineral Ave.
Milling (grinding off) two inches of the existing bituminous surface on Broadway will begin the week of October 9. Milling operations will take approximately two days to complete. Traffic will likely be driving on the milled surface for a few days. This will be a rough surface, but is still safe to drive on at lower speeds.
Some spot repairs of the underlying bituminous base course will be needed, and this work will take place inside the lane closures during the latter part of the week. Following these base course repairs, the new bituminous wearing surface will be paved (week of October 16) and all lane striping will be painted.
Milling operations on westbound W. Mineral Avenue is anticipated to begin the week of October 16. Similar to Broadway, milling operations are expected to take two days to complete and will be followed by base course repairs, paving, and striping.
