South Santa Fe Resurface Project Timeline Announced
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has released an updated schedule for the resurfacing project on South Santa Fe that started earlier this month. Work will consist of the installation of ADA ramps, replacing curb, gutter and sidewalks at various locations on Santa Fe, and milling and paving of the northbound roadway.
During the first phase of the project which started July 11, crews will perform concrete removal and soil preparation, and build ADA-compliant curb ramps at designated crossings. This work is scheduled to be completed mid-July.
The second phase will include milling the asphalt, patching large potholes, and then applying a new thin layer of asphalt to the roadway. This phase is scheduled to be completed near the end of July.
During the third and final phase which should be completed the first week in August, crews will install traffic-detection equipment at intersections to facilitate signal timing, paint new lines, crosswalks and roadway markings; and perform an assessment of the new road.
During this project, motorists should expect traffic shifts and lane closures in the project zone. A speed reduction to 40 mph will be in place on South Santa Fe during overnight work, and weekend work may be scheduled as needed.
Construction activities are weather-dependent and the schedule is subject to change.
