Officials Fixing Dam in Jefferson County

Post Date:04/05/2019

From the Arapahoe County Office of Emergency Management

Arapahoe County Sheriff logoThe Polly A Deane Dam in Jefferson County developed a small, but unusual leak at the end of March. Yesterday, officials came together from CO Dam Safety, CO Office of Emergency Management, National Weather Service and from Jefferson, Denver and Arapahoe counties to coordinate working with the owner and their engineer as part of this seepage-related event.

The safety officials and the owner initiated activities to enable staging of material and equipment to ensure stability of the structure while the reservoir is being lowered. The community will see staff on site working on initial safety fixes and permanent corrections over the next four weeks.

The dam is located in Jefferson County, south of West Bowles Avenue and west of South Simms Street.
