Cindie Perry heads Littleton’s Economic Development team. She spoke about her approach to her work:

“I came on board last November, and I was given the task to re-energize the Economic Development team. It’s an exciting opportunity. What are the gaps in what we’re doing? What needs do businesses have? That’s been the work of my first quarter.

I love getting out and speaking with our businesses and nonprofits. I hear questions like: ‘How do I finance my business? How do I build an online presence?’ Those are the types of training we want to provide.

I have over 20 years of public sector experience. I love economic development. It gives you the chance to help shape how a city grows into the future. What could we be?

Littleton accomplished a lot before I took this job. Citizens helped develop a new land use code and passed a sales tax to support infrastructure. Some of the hard parts are already done, so I get to help put the pieces together.

I love helping small business owners kickstart their lives and follow their passions. It’s easy to focus on the numbers in economic development – how many jobs did we create? But I don’t want to lose sight of the human side. How many lives did we change? How many people are enjoying a cool new restaurant that makes them feel connected to their community? It’s a mindset that helps me find common paths.

My husband is a painter. We go on road trips and find wild landscapes and old buildings, and he photographs them as inspiration. It’s an experience that gives me a deeper appreciation for places with a rich history like Littleton – there are ways to preserve the specialness of the past while still evolving.

We’re all in this together. The more we collaborate, the better off we’ll all be. I’m excited to see what we can get done as a community.”
