Jamie Crout is Littleton's new economic development specialist. She spoke about her approach to her work:

"I’m a very ambitious person, and I love people who take charge of their life and find purpose. There are a lot of reasons to start a small business, but it’s a lot of hard work. That’s what I love about small business owners – they’re in it because they’re passionate. I want to be part of that passion.

Right now my goal is to get to know business owners and see what their needs are. My vision is to create a new small business program, filled with data and resources to help businesses thrive in Littleton.

I previously worked as an economic development analyst, but just before I took this job, I was working in a wilderness therapy program in Utah. It was a last resort for parents of children facing a lot of difficulties. It was a reset button for kids to figure out how to get themselves out of troubling situations.

That job and this job were really different, but I see a commonality: both were about helping people become who they want to be – becoming the best versions of themselves and serving their community.

I’m from Mississippi, and there’s more in common with Colorado than you might think. In the South you find kindness and generosity, and I see that here too. But Colorado has a closer relationship with nature and the outdoors. People are invested in getting outside for their mental and physical health, and it brings out the best in people. I think we can all help bring out the best in each other, and I’m excited to do my part."
