As of January 1, 2019, fire and emergency services in the City of Littleton will be handled by South Metro Fire Rescue

Littleton City Council has entered into an agreement with South Metro Fire Rescue to provide fire services beginning in 2019. Joining South Metro opens up possibilities to reallocate city funds to other community needs, specifically street improvements, while receiving improved fire service.

South Metro Key Decision Factors

South Metro is an internationally-accredited fire department with the best possible Insurance Service Organization (ISO) rating (1). An ISO rating is used by many insurance companies to determine rates. A better ISO rating may lead to lower property insurance premiums. Littleton Fire Rescue is not accredited and currently has an ISO rating of 2.

Littleton firefighters will retain their positions after inclusion with South Metro.  Littleton’s current fire equipment will be transferred to South Metro and used by firefighters to continue serving Littleton citizens. Firefighters will also have access to additional equipment and staff, leading to better response times and increased opportunities, such as specialized trainings and teams.

Should voters approve inclusion, $3.1 million will be dedicated towards street improvements. Click here to learn more about street improvements.
