The Littleton Public Works Department Engineering and Utilities Division is responsible for management of the sanitary and storm sewer systems. Storm drainage is managed to minimize flooding, and to control and limit pollutants that might enter the drainage system. All drainage improvements within the city are designed or reviewed by engineers in the division.
Maintenance of the sanitary and storm drainage system is performed by certified waste water operators. Crews perform a variety of tasks including cleaning of pipes, inlets, manholes, ditches and channels. Maintenance of major drainage channels and natural streams is performed with assistance by the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District.
